Dickinson, TX

Dickinson is located on the beautiful Dickinson Bayou in Galveston County, midway between the Cities of Houston and Galveston along Interstate 45. Dickinson is located between League City, Texas City, Alvin, and Bacliff.


With a total land area of 10.3 square miles, 70 percent is residential and about 8 percent is commercial development. Dickinson offers its residents and visitors an inviting lifestyle with a “small town feel” while close to the attractions and amenities of a major urban center with culture, recreation, shopping and dining for almost any taste. Recreational amenities include youth baseball fields and a County-maintained boat dock.

History

In addition to the City of Dickinson, all residents live within other taxing entities, such as DISD schools, the County of Galveston, county roads and flood, and Mainland College. More information can be obtained at the Galveston County Appraisal District.

The Dickinson Historic Railroad Center is owned by the City of Dickinson, Texas. It is comprised of the Dickinson Railroad Depot, the League City Railroad Depot, and the grounds surrounding those depots. It includes any artifacts, objects, displays, benches, or other physical devices or equipment associated with the grounds.

Dickinson has a total of 10,000+ students and 1,000+ staff occupying six (6) Elementary Schools, two (2) Middle Schools, one (1) Jr. High School and one (1) High School. Nearby colleges include the College of the Mainland, Galveston College, Texas A&M University - Galveston, and Alvin Community College.
